Ukraine Euro 2012

As the hosts of the competition Ukraine will be fighting to stay in the competition for as long as they can. Although they are in a hard group with Sweden, France and England, they are still a force that can topple any team. They reached the quarter finals of the world cup in 2006 which is probably the highest achievement they have since their independence in 1991. For the manager Oleh Blokhin the minimum he wants out of this competition is to get pasted the group stages, itll be a challenge but for Ukraine its defiantly possible.

Star Players

Probably the most well known player from the Ukraine is the captain Andriy Shevchenko who is Ukraine top scorer of all time, longest serving captain and 2nd most capped player, but this tournament looks as if it might his last chance for an achievement with the country so he will be playing hard for his team. Other players to watch out for are there goalkeeper Oleksandr Shovkovisky who has 91 caps to his name as Ukraine’s goalkeeper, shows he must be doing something right in the team, but he is also the oldest player in the squad at the tender age of 36, but he is no doubt still going strong.
