Latest Euro Netherlands News

Netherlands Euro 2012

The one and only time the team have won this tournament is in 1988 and they will be looking to add a second title to their trophy cabinet. Leading into the competition their form has been second to none and after reaching the 2010 World Cup Final to lose to Spain, I’m sure they will be looking to redeem that loss.

In euro 2008, Netherlands were sent home by the Russians in the quarter finals, since the 2008 tournament Netherlands has have a change of strategy and face in the managerial department. 2008 saw Marco van Basten and his very offensive and goal hungry strategy leave the team and in came their current manager, Bert Van Marwijk who was the man to improve the squad and help them reach the World Cup Final and helped them to ease through qualifying. Every one will be looking at Holland to come and fight for the cup.

Star Players

Their squad contains many stars who play in a variety of clubs around the world, Robin Van Persie is a name who springs to mind as the Arsenal striker has become quite the hometown hero in recent years, Rafael Van Der Vaart is another Dutchman who plays in the premiere league for arsenals north London rivals Tottenham. Other players to look out for will be Wesley Sneijder who currently plays for Italian giants Inter Milan and Ryan Babel, the young striker has shone recently and his speed and agility will help the Netherlands greatly in the competition.
