Euro 2012 Strips

The European 2012 Championships are almost here and several competing countries have released their new kit for the tournament ahead of the June 8th kick-off date in Poland and Ukraine.

The teams that have so far revealed their Euro 2012 kits include, Holland, Poland, France, Portugal and Croatia. The new strips produced by Nike are stated as being the most environmentally friendly ever made and include a 'Pro Combat' base layer that gives extra protection and comfort for players wearing them.

French Football Kit

French Euro 2012 Strip

The new French kit moves away from their traditional blue and white design. The body of the shirt has a tonal print of the mariniere, an iconic French design of thin stripes of Meteor Blue and the lighter Pacific Blue.

The collar of the shirt is finished with gold piping and the cuffs feature a hexagon containing three tones of gold to represent the Tricolour, the national flag. On the inside of the back of the neck there is a thin red strip featuring the message 'Nos differences nous unissent' (Our differences unite us), to celebrate the diversity of the French nation.

Netherlands Football Kit

Netherlands Euro 2012 Strip

The home shirt features the usual vibrant orange, but now has a diamond print on the left side of the body and the right side of the bottom creating a sash effect that echoes their first ever kit in 1904.

Inside the neck is written 'Nieuwe Meesters' (New Masters) paying respect to the renowned Dutch artists of the 17th century. The shorts are also orange and the new socks feature improved cushioning for more comfort, movement and protection creating unmistakably Dutch appearance.

Polish Football Kit

Polish Euro 2012 Strip

The new Poland kit was originally launched late 2011, but will receive most recognition when Poland co-host football’s biggest European tournament in June. The shirt's design is inspired by the flag of Poland, celebrating what is set to be the most important year in Polish football history. The shirt also features the traditional national crest, an eagle, representing the pride and passion of Polish football.

Portugese Football Kit

Portugese Euro 2012 Strip

Portugal’s new kit features symbols from their famous seafaring past and features an all red body and green crew neck collar. The sleeves have green crosses formed from thin stripes that extend around the whole cuff representing the Portuguese national symbol, that featured on the sails of the ships Portugal’s explorers navigated around the world.

The inside of the neck has an Armillary Sphere, a navigational device that Portugese explorers used to travel the world. It has been a national symbol for over 500 years, featuring in architecture, and most famously as the background to the Portuguese shield on the national flag.

Croatian Football Kit

Croatian Euro 2012 Strip

Croatia's new national kit features the famous red and white checks of their flag. The home shirt has a red crew neck collar with the body sporting bigger red and white checks.

Inside the back of the neck is the message 'Uvijek Vjerni' which translates as 'Always loyal', to celebrate the loyalty and passion of the Croatian fans. The shorts are white as well as the socks that have improved cushioning for greater comfort and also feature a band of red checks.
